Anyone know if this is possible to put a formula in cell A1, to include the words "Piror "&cell A2's values displayed, rather than cell A2's values held, because the cells are formated to mmm-yy

Try using TEXT function like this
="Prior "&TEXT(A2,"mmm-yy")
