Getting Excel 2007 to list the cell numbers of the top five ranked numbers in a column.

    Hello,

Looking for some help with this one ... been looking around all night long
for an answer from the Excel Help tool.

I have listed in column A the numbers 1 through 15 in cells 1 through 15.

In column C I have some values posted in cells 1 through 15 ...

    1095
    0943
    1220
    1098
    1091
    1209
    1000
    1017
    1150
    1362
    0000
    0000
    0000
    0000
    0000

In column H ... I have a ranking of the numbers in column C cells 1 through 15
(highest with a 1 and lowest with a 15 or in this case as the bottom five all
    are at 0000 an 11.

    06 in cell H 01
    10 in cell H 02
    02 in cell H 03
    05 in cell H 04
    07 in cell H 05
    03 in cell H 06
    09 in cell H 07
    08 in cell H 08
    04 in cell H 09
    01 in cell H 10
    11 in cell H 11
    11 in cell H 12
    11 in cell H 13
    11 in cell H 14
    11 in cell H 15

Is there a formula to make the spread sheet list the cell numbers
of the top five values of column H?

    10 in cell J 01
    03 in cell J 02
    06 in cell J 03
    09 in cell J 04
    04 in cell J 05

Thank you for your help with this,
    Leonard

    In J1 enter:

    =MATCH(SMALL(H:H,ROW()),H:H,FALSE)

    and copy down

    Awesome !!! ... thank you.

I have a few other issues as I am so completely new to this spread sheet thing ... may I post those in this thread when I get to them?

You have made this so very easy for a beginner ...

    Thank you,
    Leonard
