Return the number of blanks across a specified number of columns

    Hello all,

See the attached spreadsheet as a reference. On the 'Data' tab of the spreadsheet, each line lists an 'ID #' in column A then lists data corresponding to that ID # in following columns. On the 'Missing Data' tab, I want to insert a formula in cell A2, which looks at the 'ID #' in A1, finds the matching 'ID #' on the first tab, and returns total number of blanks from columns D:G.

I hope that's clear - Thanks so much for any help with this!

You could try this in B2, then fill right:

Thanks for the suggestion - It looks like this formula may work in cell B2, but then I get an #N/A error when I try to drag.

Is there any way I could use the Countif function to look at the value in cell B1 and find the row in the 'Data' tab that has this value? Then, I could use the Countblanks function for that row?

I didn't say DRAG right, I said FILL right... EDIT :: FILL RIGHT...

If you DRAG right, it changes column lookups from your data table.
