    Easy count formula?

    Hello,

I think this is a fairly simple one but i'm not quite sure, basically i am trying to count two different cells that match for instance in column a i have a bunch of names like:

    Column A Column B Column C
    Monday Bob
    Tuesday Fred
    Wednesday Bob
    Thursday John

Etc etc, i have huge lists like that, now i want to count everytime John is working on the different days, like thursday, Friday, Saturday etc.. So throughout the year he is working, 10 Saturdays, 5 Mondays etc.

Any help? If i explanined this right? =/

    Cheers,

Sorry all the names are in column C, not colum B, Colum B is blank.

Could you possibly post a sample workbook with the requested output? You can use some dummy data. It will be better for us to understand and help you out...

    Thanks,

hi there. you could do up a Pivot Table. or do a formula like:
    =COUNTIFS($A:$A,F$8,$C:$C,$E9)

where F8 is the name & E9 is the day of the week
