Happy new Year.
I maintain a daily report of income and expenses conducted during the day.
Pls find the attached query.xlsx.
I can get the balance after every transaction conducted. however I need to closing balance of everyday.
I am using sumif, without expected effect.
Any assitance is highly appreciated.

Enter =SUMIF($A$3:$A$10,"<="&$G4,$C$3:C$10) in I 4 and pull down as needed
hi AT. if you're trying to sum up when they are lesser or equals to the date in Column G, try:
=SUMIF($A$3:$A$10,"<="&G4,$C$3:C$10)
if you just need it to be equals to G4, don't put in the DATE=. this will do
=SUMIF($A$3:$A$10,G4,$C$3:C$10)

In I4:
=SUMIF($A$3:$A$10,G4,$C$3:C$10)
In I5 downwards:
=I4+SUMIF($A$3:$A$10,G5,$C$3:C$10)

Just to add to the same query. can i get month end balance for say dec -13 or jan -13

if you are putting 1 dec 2013 in G4 & want to sum up the whole of dec, then:
=SUMIFS($C$3:C$10,$A$3:$A$10,">="&G4,$A$3:$A$10,"<="&EOMONTH(G4,0))
if you want to show just Dec-13 in G4, just format cells -> Custom:
mmm-yy
or you can also do a Pivot and then group the dates by Year & Month
