Grab 3 cells to left of the cell I need to average without updating references

    Hi All,

I am looking for a formula that will do the following example....

Columns A, B, C contain last 3 months of data. Column D contains the Average of last 3 months using Average() formula. Now its a month later and I add a new column to column D with current month data so now I have B, C, D have the last 3 months data and column E has the Average of last 3 months. How can I have a formula that automatically grabs data 3 cells to the left where I don't have to automatically update the cell references every time I insert a new month?

    try this formmula:

Change the cell reference E2 to the cell where you want your average formula.
when you'll insert a column in front of the average, it will always count the last 3 month.
