    Conditional formatting percentage formula

    Hello

    I have a coumn of data say A1 to A4 and I want to apply conditional formatting so that if the percentage of the A1 is greather than 25% then formate red.

    The formula to calculate the percentage is

    =SUM(A1/SUM(A1:A4))

    I'm not sure how to apply this straight to the numerics as conditional formatting without a seperate % column which I don't want.

    Thanks

    Re: Conditional formatting percentage formula

    in conditional format
    use a formula and put
    =SUM(A1/SUM(A1:A4))>0.25

    Thanks for this. Is there any way of applying these custom rules to icon sets do you know?

    Thanks

    Re: Conditional formatting percentage formula

    what do you want the icons to do
    you can just have the values for red/amber/green
    set to
    Green %
    Amber %
    Red will be anything following amber

    see attached

    Re: Conditional formatting percentage formula

    Sorry I should have been clearer but I'd like a red traffic light icon to appear if =SUM(A1/SUM(A1:A4)) greater than 25%

    Re: Conditional formatting percentage formula

    edit the icon set in conditional formatting
    and instead of
    RED >= 0.25 (25%)
    then change the dropdown from
    >=
    to
    >

    then it wont be red when it is 25% exactly

    is that what you meant - other wise its working as described - red > 25%
