Can't figure this out for the life of me...Absolute, Relative, Mixed References

First time poster. I'm praying that the gods of excelforum.com can bestow some of their infinite wisdom upon me...

So I'm working on a model in which I have for example, the following formula in Tab 1:

    =(Tab2!A1)

I want to copy it horizontally but lock ONLY the column and have the rows stay relative. So for example, I want the next cell to look like: =(Tab2!A2).

For some reason, =(Tab2!$A1) does not equate to =(Tab2!$A2) when I copy the formulas horizontally. I'm really hoping that there is a simple fix for this. Any suggestions?

When you drag across, it is the column that will auto-adjust ... and you've made that absolute, so that's fixed.

    You could try:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
