    Conditional Format based on Months.

    Hi

In Column D of my work book are a list of months, I'm trying to use conditional formatting to do the following:

Highlight green the cells in Column D where the month is due (i.e the month is now).
Highlight orange the cells that are one month passed the due month.
Highlight red the cells that are two or more months passed the due month.

I'm having trouble working out how to accomplish this - Can any one advise what would be best.

    I'm using Excel 2007.

    Thank you.

This might be a long way to do it but you could highlight all the cells you would like formatted, then click conditional formatting > new rule > format only cells that contain > choose specific text > choose containing > type in January > format to the color you want ........... Repeat these steps for each month - which is why it might take a while if you need to do all the months.

Unless you change to date format is hard to get CF to format let say December in red as we do not know if this is the last December or the one which is coming.
Please see attached.(in March -January should change to Red)
    cf.xlsx
