Conditional Formatting - Color unprotected cells, remove color once text entered

    Hello,

I'm working on a notification form (with both protected and unprotected cells) and I think it would help users if the unprotected cells were originally highlighted (to show where they need to enter info); then - once they have entered their information - the highlighting is removed from that cell.

    So far I have used:

Formula =CELL("Protect",A1)=0 to highlight the unprotected cells. That's working fine.

Now, I know I need to either:
    1.) Integrate an "Isblank" or an " <>"" " somehow/somewhere in that original rule/formula
    OR
2.) Add a second rule/formula to lose the highlighting in the cells once info is entered.

I just haven't been able to find an answer (nor guess the correct syntax...)

Which can only mean it must be REALLY simple!

    Thanks for any help,

    John C.

    Thanks for asking but... nope.
Not sure it can be done without using a macro - and since I was trying to improve/simplify/streamline an existing form with multiple users across multiple groups (and "sell" it as simpler/easier) - I've opted (for now) for the "no highlighting" option.

Have you tried using conditional formatting? you can set the formatting to shaded if the cell value is less than 1, then when the cell is populated, the shading disappears.
