I need a formula that will highlight cell L2 if 7/31/14 falls in between the date in f2 and the date in g2
The formula will drag down so f2 will be f3, f4, etc and g2 will be g3, g4, etc.
F2 = 7/1
g2 = 9/15
These dates change

hi Dena. select the range you want to apply to (say from L2:L10)
go to Home -> Conditional Formatting -> New Rule -> Use a formula to determine which cells to format -> Format values where this formula is true:
=AND(--"31jul2014">=F2,--"31jul2014"<=G2)
format the colour. if it doesnt work, upload a sample excel file and manually highlight what you wish to see highlighted to help us understand better
