Compacting data in a cell

Hi, If I want to put a lot of data in one cell but not have it going across the page how do I do that? I want to be able to click on the cell to read all the notes and not have it keep going from left to right through other columns (cells). To be clear, I don't want the cell to go away or be hidden, I just want to be able to click on it and then see all the notes or add to them. Thank you, Paul

while in that specific cell, click the button called Wrap Text you find in Alignment tab in the Ribbon.
Then you can set the width of the cell to the desired value

If you have data (anything) in the next cell to the right (say B1), all text in A1 will be stopped from "spilling over" into the next cell
