VB vs Formula - Calculation time

Howdy all,

Just a quick and hopefully painless question.

I am currently working on creating a sort of Master file using data lookups from various other spreadsheets. The point of this is to take information for various purposes (as in it will get shipped out in various guises, filters and so forth to different departments).

Now so far my formulas (assisted by these forums) are working quite well, however the spreadsheet is getting quite slow due to the increasingly complicated formulas ive added for a increasing dataset.

So my question is (finally) - Could the spreadsheet run faster using VB code rather than in cell formulas? (I know it may be impossible to say for sure without actually seeing the spreadsheet, just wondering if there is a good chance or no chance in hell).


In case you are wondering - i am out of practice with VB so i dont wanna go through the effort of relearning and writing this code if there is like an 80% chance itll be worse off with VB.
