    formatted cell for general, changes to currency

    I have formatted cells to be general. However when I enter number it changes to currency. The cell above is currency. Is this causing the problem

    Welcome. Each cell stands alone. A1 can be date, A2 currency, A3 number etc. However when you select a cell with the mouse, say A1, and drag down, say to A2, then A2's format will be similar to A1's.

    File > Options > Advanced > Editing Options, untick Extend data range formats and formats
