How do you change the fill colour of a cell based on if it contains text or not? (2007 v)?

    Hi excel.jpg

I have a formula in cell A5 that either returns the text "Supply number 2" or leaves the cell blank. I have to have the spreadsheet set up so it changes the fille colour based on if the cell is blank or has the text in it. Please can you help

    Thanks

It sounds to me like the feature you are looking for is called "conditional formatting": http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...939.aspx?CTT=1

This simple workbook shows A5 coloured green if not blank and no colour if blank. It is done with Conditional Formatting using the formula

    Formula: copy to clipboard

You're welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.
