Page breaks - Excel Mac 2011 - very annoying!!!!

I am running Excel Mac 2011 on a MacBook Pro Retina. When i create spreadsheets, i like to put notes outside the print area for little reminders, and for formulas. I have a workbook that has notes on the side, however, no matter what i try to do, the notes print!!!!! I selected command P and then cancel to view the page breaks, then i usually move the outside page breaks in so that my notes do not show in the print range. on this sheet, i have done that, yet the page breaks keep coming back!!! I have a sheet with 21 pages, but when i print 42 come out, including my notes!!!! Does anyone have any suggestions with the mac version of Excel to fix this problem?

Shouldn't you be setting the print area?

The option is under the page layout tab

I did that after seeing your post but adding pages is harder because I cannot see any new page breaks and if I need to add below my current print area I need to manually reset the print area. Is this a bug in office Mac 2011? Never had this problem in any windows version of excel. Thanks for your input on this issue.
