Workbook links not updating

Hi

This is my first post, so please excuse any protocol infringements.

My problem is that when I open a file that has links to another workbook, I get the message "This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated", with the error status "Source not found". I'm using 2 macro enabled Excel workbooks, lets call them 'Source' and 'Destination'. These are held in different folders within the same user's directory. I can edit the link, by browsing to make sure I've selected the correct file, but it doesn't help. I have not moved or renamed either file. When I select the option to open Source from the Destination file, it can't find it. It doesn't help to have both files open or closed.

Any suggestions?

You may have an incorrect link in another cell somewhere. copy the file name or link and then search your workbook using Ctrl F. This happens to me if i have moved file locations between computers.

This search doesn't bring up anything. I have just one link that is be large amount of data from an Excel table contained in my Source file to be used in my Destination file, so I'm still struggling here.

I think I'm having the same problem.
I open my "Main" file and immediately can see strange messages when editing links, but the problem is that when I open my "Source" file, the link in my "Main" file brakes!! The cell becames "#REF". Curiosly enough when visualizing the formula inside the cell, the "source" identification is there, but the name of the sheet inside the file is substituted by the "#REF" expression. It seems to brake the sheet reference but not the file name!!
Is this what happens to you?
Any news on a solution?

I don't get the #REF expression. I can't say that either source or destination file "break" or get corrupted in any way. Simply that the destination file won't find the source file in my case. It even says the source file is open, but still can't find it.

I had a suspicion that my issue may be a 'trusted location' issue but all permissions present and correct as far as I can make out. Interestingly, in my frustration, I have replaced links with 'Connections' in one situation and that worked fine, suggesting that the trust settings are not the source of the problem. However when using 'Connections' the source file is inaccessible so it's not ideal.

I see, it's a different problem then.
I even did all the file again thinking that it might be because of the different versions of Excel the file already went through but the problem remains.
