    Formatted cells used in a Concatenate formula

    I am using the Concatenate formula to merge the contents of two cells into one. One of the cells I am using contains a number and the number is formatted with a 1,000 separator (,). However in the cell using the Concatenate formula, the number does not appear with the 1000 separator. Can I somehow format this cell so that the number is formatted with the separator? Thank you!

    Perhaps this?
    A
    B
    C
    3
    1000.15
    aaa 1,000.15 aaa

    C3=TEXT(A3,"0,000.00")&" "&B3
    If you dont have decimals, you can leave off the .00

    Hi,

    If you're concatenating cells, one or more of which are numbers then the result is going to be a string and hence not capable of being given a numeric separator. You'll need to make sure that the separator is included as you concatenate the two cells. e.g. assuming A1 contains the number

    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Thanks Ford although I must admit I always find many of these custom/number format codes somewhat opaque and I usually have to experiment. They're certainly not always obvious.
