Re: Number Formats for Large Currency Requested

Googled "Excel abbreviate millions" and get lots of suggestions like this one:

    •Select your cell
•Open a “Format Cells” dialog window (click ALT then H then F then M)
•Click the “Number” tab (or click N)
•Choose “Custom” (sorry, gotta’ click that one)
    •Choose the “Type” box (ALT+T)
•Enter one of the the following (for millions, billions, or trillions) •$#,,” M”
    •$#,,,” B”
    •$#,,,,” T”

There’s one more exceptionally cool thing about this format: it rounds automatically.

    =============
Of course, you can only manually apply one format per cell. To get them ALL working, you can build these formats into a series of Conditional Formats so that numbers from 1000-999,999 use the #," K" format, number, numbers from 1,000,000-999,999,999 use the #,," M" format... and so on.

Re: Number Formats for Large Currency Requested

Thank you so much for looking. I think I'm looking for the conditional formatting since i'm working with almost a million rows and need them to display in T, M, or K whatever is appropriate. Is this possible?
    Once again - thank you.

You may try this code to custom format the currency values. Assuming you have currencies in col. A starting from A2 (A1 being the header), then try this.......
Please Login or Register to view this content.
To apply this code, open your workbook --> Press Alt+F11 to open VBA Editor --> On VBA Editor --> Insert --> Module --> Paste the above code in the opened code window --> Close the VBA Editor --> Save your workbook as Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook.
To run this code --> Press Alt+F8 to open Macro window --> Select CurrencyFormat from the available macro list --> Run.

Please find the attached sheet and click on the Green Button to run the code.

    This works for positive numbers.

Repeat for negative numbers changing the values and conditionally format as Red if less than 0.
