command buttons stopped working

I have Office 2007 Small Business Edition. My Excel command buttons have stopped working on all of my Excel worksheets. I can run my VBA programs with the small Run arrow at the top of the VBA editor but my buttons don't work. Excel won't allow me to insert command buttons. I have tried going into macro security settings but with no luck.

What happens when you re assign the macros names to the buttons? Have you tried that too?
