How to make an invalid formula show as nothing

I have a VLOOKUP formula installed that produces some N/A for names that don't qualify. While I know how to make these not show with an iferror formula is there a way that if another formula is looking up the cell with the VLOOKUP formula in it that it will act like it's a blank and that nothing is there?

It keeps picking up the original VLOOKUP formula even though nothing it shown, I want it to register as nothing as long as there isn't a correct value being returned so it doesn't mess up my second formula.

I tried Trim, = and a few other things with no luck, it recognizes text in the cell each time.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Posted my workbook. In my workbook, I have 4 sheets, Data, Details, Picks & Database. Using the details sheet, there should only be 14 X's in column C because only 14 picks have been made in column c of the Picks Sheet. The picks sheet in column C is using a VLOOKUP to the database sheet to see what team the player was selected to. Since not all the players listed have been picked yet some return with a 0 or N/A value which I then turn into nothing by using iferror. The problem is that my formula in the Details sheet in column D is still picking up that value and thus providing an X when in reality I want nothing to show up there for any player that hasn't been picked yet so it doesn't screw up my totals in yellow at the top of the Details page.

Hopefully that makes sense. Please help

What if I don't want it to say a specific text like "Team" and just any text at all would classify for an X. The data in might not also say "Team" it could say something else as well.
