    General Format Decimal

I am trying to put decimal places in a cell but the "general cell format" wonīt treat it as a number. I put "135.55" and it doesn't align to the right as numbers usually do. It is a new computer, the excel file works on my other computers.

Could somebody please help me correct this.

Here is a screenshot. It doesnīt treat it as a number so I canīt perform any operations over it. It is very weird.

    Re: General Format Decimal

Beats me. Might try right orientation format for the entire column. Stumped.
Try this as it's a new computer:
Control Panel Clock Language & Region
Change the date time or number format
Additional settings. Number format. Check for anomalies.

    See if that helps.

    Re: General Format Decimal

Screenshots show up just fine for me, but it is difficult to really investigate what is going on in a picture.

What do you get from the =ISTEXT() function?

What is your new system using for decimal separator (windows control panel -- regional settings)? I get the same behavior if I try to use a comma as a decimal separator ("125,66" will be treated as text because my system's decimal separator is period).
