How to show half days and absences on staff holiday calendar?

Hi all,

I am currently doing a project at work and I need to create a staff holiday calendar for the whole team. I have already done the outline as you can see attached but I need help in how to represent half days and absences.
PLEASE HELP!

Assuming you have colour coordinated staff members?

Also you could use symbols or name initials or what ever text and count them.
eg.
Halfday = HD

your form:
Cell AG4 =colorfunction(BQ4,B4:AE4,FALSE)
Change to =sum(colorfunction(BQ4,B4:AE4,FALSE)+sum(countif(B4:AE4,"HD")))
