    =IF Function help

If you see my previous post a few days ago then I am getting some where with my spreadsheet.

My new question is, is the there a variant of the below function possible?

    something like:

=IF(A1:A5<B1, "SHOW THE FIRST LOWEST FIGURE")

I know the above will not work but hopefully you get a jist of what I am after.

    example:

    Excel.JPG

It is possible that there could be 2 or 3 cells with figures lower than B1 so I would like the function to only show the first lowest figure in the list (if possible)

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kittu55,

Thanks for the response, I have tried you suggestion but I don't think it works.
It gave me a random number 0.14 soemthing rather than the lowest number in the list.

    Thank you for trying thou.

I think I have attached it correctly!?! :s

This isn't the actual spread sheet I am producing but just the same sample I showed above.

Thanks again for having a look.

    Re: =IF Function help

The formula is working fine in the spread sheet u attached. The value is seen differently due to different formats of the cells.

Just use the format painter on the cell D4 so that u can see the value in the same format.

    See the attached sheet.

Ok cool thank you, I have no idea what the format painter is but like you say it has worked!!

Thank you, I will continue plodding along and I hope to get this spreadsheet sorted. Cheers

    Re: =IF Function help

Sorry to be a pain, it has worked but kind of not worked at the same time.....

I have attached the actual sheet I am working on (Very incomplete).

What I am trying to achieve is a list of race results, some might be a season best, some might be an ALL time PB and others will just be a normal run.
There is a points list on the overview page (and eventually a table of all of the clubs runners that will have there points scored on individual sheets).
The first run of the season sets there season best, then for each new season best the points increase.

So I wanted to list the results per race for each runner in their sheet, when I manually enter this I want it to light up to tell me if its a new season best and then tally up the points they get.
we are then on to the next time they beat there "new" season best it becomes the second season best (new amount of points), so as you can see it needs to show the first lowest number from the list (I think).

oh dear, I think writing this I have confused my self... Hopefully what I am trying to get to makes some kind of sense and if you can shed some light it would be great.
