Numbers of Rows & Row Height changes between Japanese & English Excel

    Hi all
This is my first post, so forgive me if its not posted correctly.

I have created a "report" in excel. The report will be printed in A4 so I created the file in page view. In my english version I have 46 rows (0.53 mm) per page.

When this excel opens in a Japanese version each page has only 36 rows (0.64 mm)
So all my pages gets screwed up..

    Hi Simon
I did a quick google & came across the site below. I thought that as Japan is a metric country it would use standard sizes. But no, they've thrown a spanner in the works. Have a look at the site below & it might throw some light on it for you

    Hi Phil.
I just checked my colleagues excel and we have the same settings.
    File > Page Setup.. > Sheet > Options > A4

I think the page size is the same (A4).
But on the Japanese excel all rows that was 0.53 mm changes to 0.64 mm.
So now only 36 rows fits in 1 A4 page

Why don't you use an On Workbook Open Event to reset the rows of that sheet to your desired height?

To Add Excel VBA Code to a Workbook / This Workbook Module

    1. Copy the code that you want to use
    2. Select the workbook in which you want to store the code
    3. Hold the Alt key, and press the F11 key, to open the Visual Basic Editor
    4. In the Project Explorer, find your workbook, and open the list of Microsoft Excel Objects
    5. Right-click on the ThisWorkbook object, and choose View Code
    6. Where the cursor is flashing, choose Edit | Paste

Sixthsenses solution looks like a good one. Other than that I'd look at the printer settings on the different computers to see if they match or not

    Found an easy workaround.
Created an empty document in Excel 2008 Japanese version.
And then I could open and work with it in Excel 2011 both english and Japanese version without any problem.
Im not a big fan of excel right now..

Glad you found a solution. I noticed when I saw the email that you're using 2011. That would be the mac version I think. If I'd seen that in the first place, I wouldn't have had a clue what to look for.
All worked out in the end
    Cheers

Re: Numbers of Rows & Row Height changes between Japanese & English Excel

I'd guess it's something to do with the different paper formats the Japanese have or the page size setting of excel & printer setting mismatches. Other than that I don't know, but it would be interesting to know if it did the same on a windows system
