Calculate whether output has gone from between 3 numbers to an amount between another 3

I am not sure what I am asking for, maybe some type of IF statement or something else!

I need a formula to look at mark (text), and conclude if someone has moved two Levels or not. The result should be a tick or a cross. I have a table that gives the equivalent numerical number for each mark (text).

For example Akira got a the start of the year 3c (Level 3), I need to determine if in the summer she moved two levels, so has ended up with a mark of either 5c, 5b or 5a (Level 5). I have a list of about 523 people, so need a fast easy way to quickly determine who has not achieved the required two levels.

I would be grateful for any help, I have attached an example worksheet.

Thanks Popipipo, this is the kind of thing i need, but row 4 & 8 does should be 2 but shows as 1.

I did not realise that the lowest possible mark would cause an issue. The lowest starting mark a person can get is either a w which equals 3 or wc which equals 1. These are given for those working towards achieving Level 1 achievement (1a, 1b or 1c). A 'w' mark is usually awarded to those who have some type of special need, such as Dyslexia for example.

I guess the problem is that these two marks do not include a number like the rest in levels 1-5. So in row 11 where Julio has moved from w to 4c, and achieved 4 levels (from w-1, from 1-2, from 2-3 and 3-4, it shows on the spreadsheet as blank rather than a '1' or a '2'.

I really appreciate any advice you can give, I have not used =match or =left before.
