Is there a way to save custom formats for repeated use?

I commonly use a custom date format: mm/dd/yyyy and I would like to save it to the list of date formats or custom formats so that I can use this format in different spreadsheets without having to recreate it again and again, etc. Is that possible? Thanks in advance!

A custom number format is stored in the workbook in which it was created and will not be available in any other workbooks. To use a custom format in a new workbook, you can save the current workbook as an Excel template that you can use as the basis for the new workbook.
