I'm trying to create work sheet to monitor the status of our employees.
I used conditional formatting but i cant make it.
what I'm trying to do every time I put it in "Active" it will highlight the name with

    Hi Aries_01463,

Please see attached. I made the cell value red or yellow depending on the status. If you wanted the FONT (the letters) to change color then you can edit the conditional formatting and make the font color change not the fill in color.

    Thanks.

Go to conditional formatting, click on new rules. Go to "Format only cells that contain", change the between to equal to and type in Active, set the format to yellow so it highlights yellow whenever someone has Active. Repeat the process but make it equal Inactive and have it highlight red.

The other way you can do this is "Use a formula to determine which cells to format" and then you could simply do =[ref cell]="Active" then copy and paste the conditional formatting to the other cells.

    As SAFC said.

I like the 2nd option mentioned.

Make sure you're in the cell that you want the conditional formatting to apply to. (for this example be in cell A5).
    1. Conditional Formatting - New Rule - Use formula to determine which cell to format
    2. Now enter the formula in this case =B5="inactive"
    3. click Format
    4. Select what you want to happen (change color)
    5. Click ok until you get to the "conditional formatting rules manager" and ensure that the your rule applies to column A.
