Can't apply Vlookup formula to rest of cells in column

I created a vlookup formula and tried double clicking on the bottom right corner of the cell so it can be applied to all other cells in the same column but it's not working. Did I do something wrong?

Just use Ctrl-C Ctrl-V to copy paste.
    If that doesn't work...

Attach a sample spreadsheet, remove any sensitive data.

You cant attach files on this forum.
Upload the file to an online storage site then place a link to it on this forum.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Is the cell in question adjacent to a column of cells that have values?

@specialk- It's a alot of rows so copy/paste is not an option nor is dragging all the way down. I've done this previously so not sure why it doesn't work now.

    @Jetemc- no.

In Excel 2010 you need to have a column of values adjacent to the column of cells for which you wish to apply a formula by "double clicking". You might try selecting the cell in question, pressing Ctrl+Shift+the down arrow, then selecting fill down (or press Ctrl+d).

What I have done is similar to JeteMc's description.

Take note of what column your formula is in.
Select a cell in the next left occupied column.
Hit End then the down arrow key.
Arrow right to the column that has your formula.
While holding down the Shift key in succession hit End then the up arrow key.
    Then hit Ctrl - d.

The explanation is a bit long-winded. Once I got the hang of this it works fairly fast.

    Hope this helps.
