    Large Excel Worksheet

Hi - I'm new to the forum today - so apologies if this has been answered multiple times before. I have a 1 page worksheet in Excel 2007 with no formulas, pictures, charts or other funky stuff. It's just plain data and the only formatting is the date column. The problem is that it's saving at over 940kb and takes forever. It is only 12 columns by 149 rows and it almost unusable. I have tried to copy and paste the active cells to a new workbook, take out all the formatting and Edit>clear>all the unused cells but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try?
    Thanks

If it's just data with no other references in other sheets

    1) Select all the data
    2) Create a new workbook
    3) Paste the data into the new workbook
    4) Save the workbook

    Does that solve the problem?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

How big are your scroll bars? Vertical and Horizontal. If they are tiny you need to delete the extra columns or rows. The only other thing that I can think of if you copied just the data and pasted special values to a new workbook and still have size issues is that you might have hidden characters such as non breaking spaces etc that are increasing your file size. Try saving as an xlsb file and see what that does for you.

    Re: Large Excel Worksheet

I've just taken a copy of the active cells in the workbook and saved it as a Excel 2007 Binary Workbook and the size didn't change significantly. Because I don't need this copy I also highlighted the entire workbook and deleted the contents by going to Edit and clear all and replaced this with the number '1' in cell A1 and it's still 532KB! and I have deleted the other sheets in the workbook to just in case.

LCL Selection 2.xlsbNow that all the content has been deleted, I have attached it so someone can look at it. - It makes no sense to me at all.

    Re: Large Excel Worksheet

Somehow excel is carrying over some attributes that I can't seem to find. I saved the file as a text file which stripped everything out. Then reopened in excel and saved as an excel file and size was then 9kb. If all you have at this point is data this may work for you.
