    Re: sorting data

Hi and welcome to the forum

It's not always easy to understand from narrative text where the column delimiters are.

No doubt if you upload an example workbook showing the data beforehand, and manually add the results you expect in another range, we'll be able to offer a solution.

    Re: sorting data

problem is I have a lot of data points, so sorting it manually becomes almost impossible!

    Hi,

Would you upload the workbook as requested. Pictures are rarely much use since not many of us want to spend time re-creating data you already have to hand.

    Aid stuff.xlsx

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have attached the document. Sheet 1 has the data I am trying to transform, sheet 2 gives a depiction of what I am trying to achieve

    Re: sorting data

I can't help thinking your analysis would be simplified if your data was held in a normalised 2 dimensional table with just four columns

    Series Name
    Country Name
    Year
    Value

With this layout then a Pivot Table will allow as much analysis and summarisation that you might ever need. Are you able to capture the data in this layout?

Even if you can't I'd still be inclined to have a pre-processing macro that could take your Sheet1 data and put it into the four column layout.
