Insert Image with transparency

Hi All,

A few years back a friend inserted a picture into an excel file with the transparency feature enabled, but I haven't been able to recreate the effect. I have attached the original file here so maybe a guru can tell me what needs to be done to make the images in excel transparent. I have tried inserting pictures with several formats and then make an attempt to make them a transparent with no luck.

Please help, as you can see from the attached file I only have until next Monday to make this happen.

I tried the first method, just because I am too stupid to try the other method. Here are the results if anyone cares, or if you need a premium football squares setup for your friends. In the grid, the percentage in the bottom left of each square is the chance to win 1 of the 4 main prizes, and the percentage on the right represents the overall chance if you award adjacent cells to the mix. The highlighted cell in green is the block with the best chance of winning something, and the block highlighted in red is the lowest chance. So in my pool, we award a winner every quarter, with the blocks adjacent to the winning block also winning something, and even before the game starts we have a biggest loser prize. This year it is the "Ladies Man" who has already won something, even before we know who is in the Super Bowl. All odds are based on previous Super Bowls.
