Trying to make a spreadsheet for adding up rent with a fixed weekly rate.

    Hi,

using google and various other online sites I have been trying in the attachment below to write a formula or VBA (which I know nothing about) to calculate rent paid and to show if a person is in arrears or credit and the total rent a person has paid.

i'm pulling what little hair I have left on my head trying to get something that works.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Here is how I would do that. Leave the TENANCY END field blank if you want and the WEEKS ACTIVE field will use TODAY.

Just drop the payments into the last two columns. The dates paid are reference only, they aren't used in the formulas.

    Ow wow this is EXCELlent...

Is it okay if I use your template?

Just one more thing, if the weekly rate changed, how would you implement that? The old weekly rate would still apply for the time period that it was at that rate, and the new weekly rate would apply from a specific date.

My recommendation is to keep it simple. If the rate changes, that is a new contract, use a new clean template and start anew. Be sure to put a TENANCY END date in the old rate sheet to lock it down.

If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED. Thanks.
