New sheets formated as date

I have few old file that I need to update once in a while creating new tabs "sheets". When I create a new sheet it comes with all cells formatted as date. Can that be changed without having to re-format all again to open at least formatted "general"?

on the home go to Cell styles right click the Normal style and pick Modify and see what it says

It says "date". I changed it and save the file but still new sheets are created the same "date"
Is there any other place like in options or something that can change the way they are created?

not that i know off but a quick search shows its a know issue
