    List Checking

I have 2 columns of data. Col A represents a Part#, Col B represents the quantity of that part number. I'm looking for a way to be able to scan (using a handheld scanner hooked to the PC) the actual part number and enter my quantity and excel check or highlight the corresponding part number in the sheet and tell me if the quantity i entered matches the quantity in the sheet for that specific part number. I also want Excel to keep that formatting to show that i have already audited that specific part number. I think Green should be the color of the matching Part number as well as the quantity IF the quantity entered matches. If it doesn't then it should be Red. Is this possible to accomplish in Excel? Thanks for your help!!!

    Re: List Checking

A sample spreadsheet would help a lot. I'll assume you are scanning part numbers into consecutive rows and that somewhere else you have a list of part numbers and quantities. It is too bad you are using Excel 2003. This means some code will have to be used to copy down the conditional formatting. If you were using Excel 2007 or later, you could use Excel tables and this would be automatic.

We might also want to add some code to position the cursor automatically after each scan.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
