    Fill series to

    Hello. If I have a series started in A1, that goes 1, 2,3, 4, 5, down the column, how can I fill that pattern down to row 100,000? Gracias.

    1) select a1 till a5 and drag that down to a100.000.

    2) a1=row() and drag down to a100.0000

    3) a1 = 1
    a2 = a1+1 and drag down to a100.000

    But isn't there a way to do it without dragging it down? Like fill series or something? Let's say it's down to row 500,000. It takes like a minute just to drag it down that far.

    Figured it out

    Click in B2. In the Name Box (left of the formula bar and above the row numbers enter B2:B100001 and hit enter. The column will be selected. Now hit Ctrl +D and the formula will be copied down the 100000 rows.

    Re: Fill series to

    There's also a series fill if you just want the numbers entered without being a formula.

    Click on the first cell,
    Choose Fill > Series

    Series in - Select Columns
    Type - Linear
    Step Value - 1
    Stop Value - 100,000

    Click OK and it fills all the way down.

    These are then "fixed" values. If you use a formula, be careful when you sort!
