I have limited Excel knowledge so I am not able to figure this out on my own through trial and error. I looked all over before posting here but was not able to find what I needed. Thank you in advanced to anyone that can help me out.

The problem. I have a a list of 22 rows all with about 50 cells of either X or "blank space". I am not able to use numbers unfortunately.

The formula that I need involves the sum of all of the X's, in every other cell.

X as 1 is simple. But I have not been able to combine the range of "every other cell in a row" and "count x as 1"
