Talking Match and Index with Duplicate values

Hi I have an issue with index and match where I have a points system where if two people have the same points it will return the name of the first person twice. my code is =INDEX('Drivers List'!A$2:A$13,MATCH(D27,'Drivers List'!E$2:E$13,0)) any help- would be much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Match and Index with Duplicate values

The way to solve this is to add a very small but unique number to the scores - that makes them unique, but has no material effect on the scores themselves. I assume E2 to E13 contain a formulae to give a total score. To that add +row()/^6

I assume that D27 contains a formula that returns the highest (or lowest) score from E2 to E13. It will already have that small number added to it. It should then work. if not:

Please attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is enough data to demonstrate your need. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary. Remember to remove ALL confidential information first!!!

However, nothing on this Forum works quite as well as you might expect. The attachment icon doesn't work!! (Helpful, isn't it!!). Instead, just before you submit your post, click on GO ADVANCED (near the bottom) and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window. The relevant instructions are at the top of that screen.
