Search multiple ID numbers copy and paste related information

I would like to search a huge amount of data entries. The first column will Identify the area code eg ... 1234f567 - 01001, 4789g654 -000100, 7465t957 - 111000 and many more, but this code can be repeated with a different - 00110 code after the main number and the are all mixed up, so the search would be for all the codes starting with the first 8 characters. it would search for every cell with the same first 8 characters the same then pick out the details in that row which could be in column c & f & j. So from the master sheet I would end up with something like this Cell "A1" 1234f567 - 01001 "B1" information from Master sheet Cell "C" & Cell "C1" Information from Master sheet Cell "J" all related to the row with that code - hope that makes sense,

without a sample file, it's not easy to understand, but if you look up Advanced Data Filters in Excel (Google it) you may get what you need. Not only can you copy your selections to another location, but you can filter them as well. You can have multiple criteria, much like a database and use wildcards like the asterick "*" in a search pattern or a question mark "?" for a single letter.
