Hello. With your help I have set up a data link to an external website, downloading a table of data into a worksheet. All is good.
When I open the workbook I see a warning 'data connections disabled' displayed. I assume this is for security purposes. I can enable the link OK, and I assume I can enable it permanently in options. Would this be safe? The link I set up is safe I know. Are there risks?

If the site is safe when you set up the link, it should still be safe when you open the spreadsheet. When you open the spreadsheet, it might ask you if you want to make the spreadsheet a trusted document. If you answer yes, then it will open all links and connections whenever you open the spreadsheet from then on.
You can also set the directory in which the spreadsheet resides as a trusted location. See the trust center under File -> Options.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
