Hi there, I think this is the right place to post a question like this; if not, please redirect me.
I'm having issues with Excel 2016 becoming slow and unresponsive the longer I have the program open. There's one file I work on most of the day; a 30MB shared file accessed via network*. When I had this file open in Excel 2010, I never had any significant issues with it. However, After having it open for an hour or two in Excel 2016, the program gradually becomes unresponsive. Clicking out of Excel 2016 to a different program and back takes around 30 seconds or so to make the Excel window "active" again. Eventually, the Excel windows stop updating visually, though all of my commands and actions still take place. For example, I can move my cursor around the spreadsheet and use keyboard shortcuts to copy, paste, save the workbook, and close out of the program, but the Excel screen itself never updates to show what I'm doing. The workbook and ribbon are both "frozen" and stop updating.
I've tried "repairing" Excel, turning off flash fill, turning off animations, and a few other settings, but nothing makes a difference.
Any help would be appreciated.
*I know working with a large shared file in a network environment isn't ideal, but it's worked well enough over the past decade.
