Text Qualifier present at the end of the value

    Hello All,

I am facing a boundary case scenario in my reporting application which generates CSV files for the reporting data. Below is the format for the CSV files.

    Sample Input data:

As you can see the data for the Device column contains Spiral 210B 8". There is a double quote present at the end of the data which represents inches. But when the above CSV file is opened in Excel, what I get is like the below:

    What I get:
    Device Site Name Type
    Spiral 210B 8",www.videor.com" App

The double quote in the device name is causing issues clearly. I am clueless as to how to handle this scenario while generating the CSV file.

    What I want:
    Device Site Name Type
    Spiral 210B 8" www.videor.com App

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

I believe you only need to double any " symbols within a field.

Thanks very much. That helps. But can we do anything without touching the content of the field?

Not really, unless you can be certain that the " symbol would only ever appear at the end of a field.
