    View sheets during typing formula without referencing them

    Hi,

    Is there anyway to view worksheets in a workbook during typing a formula without Excel automatically adding that sheet's reference to the formula?

    Sometimes I start writing a formula and click to see other worksheets during the process. Excel assumes I will make reference to the sheet I click on but sometimes I don't, and I've continued typing. This has led to the wrong sheet reference being used. I find myself having to delete sheet references a lot during typing a formula as well because it is unnecessary to have them in some cases...

    Welcome to the forum.

    If you don't want to navigate in the sheets you want to look at then you can use Ctrl-PgDn/Ctrl-PgUp to view other sheets whilst typing a formula without Excel adding the sheet references to your formula. What I mean by not navigating is that you'll only be able to see wherever you were previously viewing on the other sheet - if you try to move around at all, you'll get sheet references. You can continue typing into your formula, but clicking anywhere or using the arrow keys will add to the formula automatically.

    So maybe not 100% what you want, but better than nothing...

    If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
    If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
    You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.

    Hey, thanks for your reply, good to know about this as an option. Doesn't quite get around the issue (might just have to live with it and work around it) but it's good to know!

    @Glenn

    I think the camera might have been available in 2007 too - according to this page it was even available in 2003.

    @Jamie10

    I didn't suggest the camera as it could potentially mean having camera 'shots' of each sheet on every other sheet if you were doing a lot of cross-referencing. Maybe a wrong assumption, so sorry for not mentioning it - it can be very useful, as Glenn's attachment shows.
