    Smile Constant Headers

    Hi All,

    First time posting.

I am trying to create a new excel template. I have figured out the template process but part of my requirement is having a header/footer that sticks to all new tabs as they are added by a user (users will be me and others).

Is there any way to create a header/footer that remains constant when adding new tabs to my document? As of right now when new tabs are added, the headers disappear.

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: Constant Headers

You can create a Workbook macro.
If you open visual basic from the developer tab
select view and then project explorer
    double click on this workbook

Select workbook on the left combobox
    Select New Sheet

This macro will be run whenever you add a new tab
So record yourself creating the header and paste the macro code inside the NewSheet Macro

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

    Re: Constant Headers

Thanks for the Macro advice. I had contempated using a macro however if I send this template out to others, would a macro go with it? Also, I'm dealing with some folks that may not be Excel savvy enough to deal with Macros so I was hoping to avoid using them.

Any other advice other than a macro?

    Thanks again for your help!

    Re: Constant Headers

Create a single-sheet workbook, set up the headers, footers, etc., and save it as Sheet.xltx in your XLSTART folder.

    The macro would be automatic.

It would run automatically so no user intervention required.

Open this workbook and add a new tab.
