Unhappy Vacation tracker with conditional highlight and max number

    Dear All,

I am trying to create a tracker on excel which will have a calender and track&summarize vacation dates highlighted on selected date period. And maximum 6 employees can get vacation on same day.. oh btw, employees have 3 different skill sets so 6 employees max from each skill set can have vacation on same day.. I am trying to make something with "starting date, ending date" with sumif command but i am totally stuck now..

To make long story short, If I enter vacation dates requested by employee, formula should color the dates for those period and max 6 employee for each skill set can have vacation on a same day. If the request is falling on a day with 6 employees already then somehow it must show some message.. Please some help

Re: Vacation tracker with conditional highlight and max number

    Welcome to the forum!

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? Show us what you have managed to do so far.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.
