    Copying Issue

    Hello,

Whenever I copy something within excel, the cell gets highlighted with the moving dashed border. This is normal, however, whenever I paste what I copied, this border stays on and nothing I do will turn it off (clicking inside the cell, outside the cell, or pasting multiple times). Only cutting and pasting will keep the cell from staying highlighted.

This causes problems when I want to insert a row, since it still thinks I have copied something and inserts what I've copied into every cell in the new row. How can I change the settings? This issue was never a problem while using excel on my old computer.

    Thanks!

Did you hit the "Esc" key?

The escape key works! But there's nothing to change the settings so that it turns off after copying once like in my old excel?

    Hello, laurenm.
    Welcome to the Forum!

Try hitting Enter or Return if pasting only once or at last pasting.
Other than that, hitting Esc at any moment will stop highlighting immediately.

    Re: Copying Issue

Thank you ALL for making me feel like I was the only one totalling losing it. I have been trying for months to fix this issue, "removing the highlighted circular lines" after posting, etc. It's been driving me nuts! I don't seem to remember that I've ever had this problem until using the 2016 version. Thank you, thank you, thank you ALL. I can't imagine that there isn't something I can uncheck or check to stop this from happening, aside from using the Escape Key now. Oh well.. It does the job!
