    Slow to open excel file

    Hello,

I have a particular file that is quite slow to open and save any changes. In slow, I mean, it takes 10-20 seconds to open and to save changes. Curious if this is normal for a file with one tab having roughly 2,300 rows of data with another tab referencing that data using INDEX MATCH MATCH.

My laptop is strong, running i7 quad core with 16GB Ram, so that shouldn't be the case.

    Any thoughts or comments?

Well that would certainly explain the speed. 96MB is pretty big considering that's a compressed format.

How many sheets are there, and where does Ctrl+End take you on each one- somewhere a long way past the data?

8 sheets but only 3-4 have significant data. One sheet has the 2300 rows and the others do not come close.
Ctrl+End takes me to XFD2341 but the data doesn't go past AX (until next year where I will add an additional 13 columns)

Does deleting the columns from AA to XFD and saving the file reduce the size?

Excel sometimes decides that the used range of a sheet is larger than it needs to be- usually due to formatting or prior usage of a cell that doesn't get reset when it's cleared. Deleting the superfluous ranges and saving often fixes it.
