Excel table with in-cell pictures to PowerPoint - pictures misplaced

    Hi,

I've search around the web with no results - hope you can help me with this issue, which I thought wouldn't been an issue.

The problem is rather straightforward and very easy to replicate:

    1) I have a range in Excel: 7 columns and 10 rows. In one column, there is a picture (a firm logo) in each cell. The pictures are snapped to grid and set to move and size with cells.

    2) When I select the range in Excel, copy it, and then paste it to PowerPoint in PP-editable form (i.e. not as embedded/link), the table as such places correctly and looks beautiful, but the pictures in cells are now all over the place in the slide. So they don't align anymore with the cells as they did in Excel.

Is there anything I could do to keep the pictures inside the cells when pasting the range to PP?

Have you tried using the camera tool in Excel to copy the range as a picture?

You may need to add the icon to your quick access menu
    Camera.jpg

If that does not do what you want, please detail EXACTLY
    - how you copy from Excel
    - how you paste into Powerpoint (which paste option)
    - what you want to be able to do with the object in Powerpoint

    AND
Please attach your workbook as follows
    - click GoAdvanced
    - look below and click ManageAttachments
    - follow screen instructions

Replicating your problem is easier if using your workbook

    Thank you for the response!

Camera tool is interesting (I wasn't aware of it), but it doesn't seem to solve the problem - logos still get misplaced when attached to powerpoint.

    Here are the answers:

    - how you copy from Excel : With Ctrl+C
    - how you paste into Powerpoint (which paste option): Keep Source Formatting (important, need to have the same looks as in Excel)
    - what you want to be able to do with the object in Powerpoint: I want the logos to appear in the same cells that they were in Excel (Camera tool did not solve this, unfortunately.) In addition, I would like to let our people to edit the cells' text in PowerPoint (and this doesn't happen when pasted as picture)

    Please see the workbook attached.

Again, many thanks - your help is appreciated!

Re: Excel table with in-cell pictures to PowerPoint - pictures misplaced

Here is an acceptable workaround - even if a little clumsy
    In summary:
    - copy 2 identically sized ranges from Excel
    - paste one as an image, the other as editable source formatted object
    - place one on top of the other
    - the one on top (with editable data) is transparent

When I get some time next week, I will look into this further, to see if I can arrive at a more elegant solution

    In detail:
Create 2 new identical copies of sheet "Firms" as follows:
    - add 2 new worksheets
    - select all cells in sheet "Firms"
(by clicking on square above row 1 just to left of column A)
    - {ctrl} c (to copy the sheet)
    - activate one of the new sheets
    - select all cells in new sheet
    - {ctrl} v
    - same for 2nd new sheet

    new Sheet 1
    - delete all data in range
    - leaving only headers and images in the range
    - Select the range
    - copy with {ctrl} c
    - and paste as embedded picture into Powerpoint
(If you prefer, the headers could be copied with the data rather than the logos)

    new Sheet 2
    - delete all images
    - delete all headers
    - remove all cell formatting (borders, cell fills etc)
    - you may want to format the text
    - remove Gridelines (option on Page Layout tab)
    - leaving a transparent range containing only the data that user is permitted to edit later (in PowerPoint)
    - select the range (including missing headers and images)
    - copy with {ctrl} c
    - and paste keeping source formatting into Powerpoint

Line up the second object directly over the first
    - grouping the 2 objects would allow you to move them together

Let me know how you get on
    - but no need to quote the whole of my post
    - it fills the thread with clutter
    - it would be helpful if you edit your previous post and delete the quote
    - quoting is useful if referring to something a few posts further up the tread, or when you are replying to a specifc element in a post

    Thanks

    Powerpoint file (zipped) is attached
