Conditional Formatting now working

I'm trying figure out why this conditional formatting isn't working. In cell C5 I want the conditional formatting to take place. If any of the boxes in row 5 are clicked I want C5 to change background and text.

I linked each checkbox to a cell to the right of the box. So if a box is clicked a cell will change from FALSE to TRUE. If any value it TRUE in row 5 cell P5 will turn to 1.
If P5 is 1, I created a conditional format to go from a regular color to a greenbackground.

Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. I've messed with the formula in the condidtional format, I've tried using the "Stop If True" option but I cant get it to work on a constate basis. Can someone look at this and tell me what I'm missing?

in P5 =--(SUM(--Q5:AB5)>0) as CSE

Rule should be

=$P5=1

I had to double click on Column C to enact CF: no idea why ?!
