Embed read-only PDF/Word Doc into Excel worksheet

    Hello,

I believe I may have had luck years ago by accident, but haven't been able to replicate this scenario:

I have a Word doc (or PDF if needed) that I'd like to incorporate into an Excel tool for instructions on how to use the tool. I'd like to have the ability to not have to open directly in Word or Adobe if at all possible.

I believe my aforementioned accident provided a small window (similar in appearance to a text box) where the Word/PDF file was viewable AND scrollable as a read-only.

However, through many Google searches and forum spelunking, I've had no luck thus far. Would anyone know if this is possible in Excel?

Any questions on the above, please let me know. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I have not tried for this...

but could you go into in adobe, then whatever file looking at -- tools--protection--encrypt?

And within you should be able to make other changes such as (read-only, allow print, etc.)

    For excel,

In the Insert tab, text option (very right of tab),
select object-- then prompts to what reader (adobe) you are using, then the file ^^^^above file that you saved, you then should be able to choose that file for excel
note:you may enter as an icon with that option

    Go Astros!!!

    Hi AMoreno,

    Unfortunately no luck there.

I apologize if I was a little unclear before. The read-only can be disregarded in this context. What I'm looking for is:
    • section in Excel to house a PDF (not as an icon or link)
    • be dynamic enough to show multiple pages
    • be dynamic where inside the section you can scroll via mouse through the document (not requiring to open Adobe)

Again, not sure if this is possible, but worth a shot. The less programs open, the better, but if Adobe's required to view the entire multi-page instruction, than no worries.

    Thanks again!

Yeah I am having a hard time finding a solution to do on your own as well, too bad no one else knows either.

Something that might work, and maybe if you use a lot. But I have seen pdfelement at https://pdf.wondershare.com/
That might be something you are interested in, but not for sure of its full functionalities.

If you find out another way, please share back.

    Thanks,
    Ant
